In the flicker of an incandescent sun In the corner of my eye Ink and shadow runs Took a form of something vile. Piercing days and miles That old memory started cirñling Some say I went blindly wild Playing Ahab High and dry, come, find me Shaking, trembling, whispering "hold me tight" Like a relic of a life nine-tenths collapsed Full of condescending smiles We've been trading pasts When the overwhelming tide Well, it took us by surprise In the water started pouring Some say I went blindly wild Playing Ahab High and dry, come, find me Shaking, trembling, whispering "hold me tight" Now, in the morning light Our cadences collide In prose and broken rhymes. Capsized and left to read between the lines

Congratulations brother, you have won I can't deny that I'm impressed How confident you sound and all But I was so sure - correct me if I'm wrong You were my voice of rhyme and reason Now you are just a bitter song Those were the days, the pines, the forlorn shores The pebbles on the rocky bottom Reminders of the broken words A cellophane wrapped postcard with no addressee I carry in my inner pocket. Never learn — wash, rinse, repeat We are what we are I leave the rest to you All apologies are the seasoning for the wounds It took time - the worst kind Now I wake up with a smile 'cuz we had the days Memories are forever mine Those were the days, the pines, the forlorn shores The pebbles on the rocky bottom — Another year of "so it goes" So congratulations brother, you have won I didn't know it was a contest, Hope the prize will make you whole But we are what we are I leave the rest to you All apologies are the seasoning for the wounds It took time — the worst kind — Now I wake up with a smile 'cuz we had the days Memories are forever mine We both should be fine

about

The two new songs by the Karelian vagabond notforme! make up a postcard from the days past, and every postcard have two sides. The front is a bright, yet frantic picture, inspired by the Steven Hall’s imagery, with his shark feeding on people’s memories and a desperate wish to find a fragile balance in life. The back is a simple, but ironically sharp message to oneself. Without a stamp. To be wrapped in cellophane and hidden in the inner pocket. To remember.
